Altaphonic is a quintet out of Denver, CO—fusing soul, rock, and funk into a polished, eclectic mix that feels familiar and fresh all at the same time. Driven by thoughtful songwriting and tight execution, their tunes might make you laugh, and they might make you cry, but they’ll definitely make you dance.

Established in early 2024, Altaphonic was born from the depths of a basement on Alta Vista Drive. The band’s influences run a wide gamut: Stevie Wonder, The Meters, Wilco, Lake Street Dive, The Rolling Stones, Elton John… to name just a small cross-section.

The musical visions of main songwriter and keyboardist Cole MIchel are transformed into vibrant reality by the rest of the band. Guitarist Joel Meyerson brings a bluesy / jazzy sensibility straight from his home town of Chicago, but is known to descend into a face-melting rock solo. Drummer Darcy Shaw holds down the rhythm with fat pockets and heavy grooves, while bassist Blair Hicks knows how to lock in the low end with the very best of ‘em. And vocalist Christin Whitener brings a power, soul, and sweetness to the group that take the tunes to a new level.
